Healing Power of Water Treatments
What's it all about?
Ever wondered why taking a long relaxing bath or swimming in
the sea
makes you feel good? The therapeutic benefits of water treatments in
their many
forms are immense, and in our opinion, underated. You don't have to
have
a hands on treatment to enhance your wellbeing, so we wanted to pay
tribute to
one of nature's most powerful elements. Have a look below at some of our favourite water treatments and where you can get
them.

What is it?
Technically described as a shiatsu in water but that doesn't do it
justice!
Your body is cradled in water in different positions by a specially
trained
therapist using techniques to release tension and unblock meridien
channels.
What does it do for me?
Stress reduction benefits
are huge and you can reach a state of deep mental relaxation but
allow yourself
to let go and trust the therapist - they know what they are doing!
Where do I get it?
We had one of the best
Watsu treatments at the fantastic Six Senses Destination Spa, not
only because
of the skill of the therapist (they are highly trained) but the
stunning watsu
pool area. A highly nurturing treatment in a highly nurturing
environment!

What is it?
Natural
mineral springs with medicinal waters that are used for drinking
"cures". Depending on the mineral composition of the water,
they can be used for a variety of health issues - from kidney and
urinary tract
conditions to digestive disorders.. An acquired taste but worth it!
What does it
do for me?
You don't need a health
condition to benefit. The high mineral content is great for your
health
and for cleansing the system. You will feel rejuvenated!
Where do I
get it?
The Nove Lazne located in
the historical spa town of Marianske Lazne, one of Europe's best
sources of
natural mineral springs. Highly trained doctors will help prescribe
the
right "cures" for you. Coupled with rejuvenating treatments this is a
lovely traditional spa destination.

What is it?
Floating on a giant
mattress in an infinity pool, listening to an MP3 player loaded with
ultra
meditative music whilst gazing at a star lit sky. A deeply relaxing
treatment on a "real" waterbed.
What does it
do for me?
Your heart rate will slow
down, your breathing will become slower, deeper and more regular
while your
whole body begins to unwind. The music coaxes your brain into a
synchronised
state of consciousness which can expand and enhance memory and
learning
capabilities.
Where do I
get it?
At the intimate destination
spa of Tembok Bali. This gem of a retreat is dedicated to wellness
by embracing the local healing traditions of Balinese culture and
passing them
on to their guests.

What is it?
Waters, enriched with salts and vital minerals that flow from the
core of the
earth. Mix these waters with mud or clay and you get fangotherapy,
otherwise known as mud therapy.
What does it do for me?
The thermal waters are
great for easing tight muscles and helping you sleep deeply.
Fangotherapy
is detoxifying and nourishing at the same time. Your skin will
absorb the
minerals and leave it glowing.
Where do I get it?
At the Regina Isabella in
Ischia, a spa hotel that oozes with glamourous Italian style. The spa
uses its
natural resources in combination with holistic treatments. They even
produce
their own skincare range that include ingredients from the thermal
waters and
mud.

What is it?
Mineral springs are formed when rain falls and is absorbed by porous
rocks picking up elements as it descends below the ground before
bubbling back up as a hot spring.
What does it
do for me?
It's what's in the spring wates that makes the special. Hydrogen
Sulphide gas helps blood circulation and the nervous system. Iron
helps
the digestions and calcium and sulphate benefit joints. A cocktail of
ulimate wellbeing properties!
Where do I get it?
At the lovely Six Senses spa in Jordan. The hot mineral spring comes
out of the mountain side and cascades down to form a bathing pool. The
Dead Sea is close by for added therapeutic benefits. Holistic
